You already did the hard part: the course exists. What it usually lacks is short video. Students want a two-minute recap before they open the next module, and your audience on social media wants a taste of the method before they buy. Recording and editing each of those by hand eats the time you meant to spend on the next course.

Motiongist works from the material you have already written. Drop a module as a PDF or DOCX, paste a lesson script, or link to your sales page, and it builds a short narrated explainer with diagrams, key numbers and titles that appear on the words. You keep the final say on every line before anything renders.

How it works

From a course module to a short lesson video

  1. Step 1

    Drop one module

Upload the module as a PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown file, or paste the lesson script. The script sticks to your material, so the video teaches what the course teaches.

  2. Step 2

    Give the video one job

A recap for enrolled students, a teaser for the sales page, or a welcome video for new sign-ups. Say which in the notes, along with the one idea that must stick.

  3. Step 3

    Review, then render

Read the storyboard for free, swap in your course vocabulary, then confirm the exact credit price. Rendering takes from a few minutes to about fifteen.

  4. Step 4

Turn the whole course into a series

On the Team plan, drop the full course document: it is split into 2 to 12 episodes, one project each, that you review before rendering.

What you give: “module-3-pricing.pdf (12 pages). Recap for enrolled students. Key moment: “Price the outcome, not the hours.””

What the video shows, scene by scene

  1. 0–7 s

Hook. A timesheet fills up with hours while the total at the bottom barely moves. Title: “Still charging by the hour?”

  2. 7–30 s

The module’s first idea. Two columns appear, “hours worked” and “result for the client”, and the second one keeps growing.

  3. 30–55 s

The method from the PDF as three numbered cards: name the outcome, estimate what it is worth to the client, price a share of that value.

  4. 55–80 s

A worked example using the figures from the module, built up line by line as the narration reads them out.

  5. 80–100 s

The classic mistake. A discount slider drops before the client has even pushed back, and a warning icon pops up.

  6. 100–110 s

Recap card: “Price the outcome, not the hours”, followed by “Next: module 4, writing the proposal”.

An illustrative storyboard for this brief (Light look, 2D). Motiongist writes its own scenes from your input, and you can edit them for free before rendering.

Why Motiongist

Why course creators use it

  • Built from your course, not the internet

When you give a document, the script sticks to it, and a fact review runs before rendering. Your method stays your method.

  • A course in, a series out

On the Team plan, one long document becomes 2 to 12 episodes in one go, each a separate project you can edit and render.

  • Looks like your course

Apply your colors and logo from the Solo plan, or import them from your website, so lesson videos match your slides and sales page.

  • Easy to put in front of students

Download the MP4 and SRT captions for your course platform, or use a share page with a button back to the course and an embeddable player.

  • Promo shorts, ready to post

Every video gets post copy for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn. Publish now or schedule; publishing costs no credits.

  • Sell in more than one language

Narrate the same lesson in any of 10 languages, with captions and on-screen text that follow the narration.

Where short videos fit in a course

Short explainers work best around your main lessons, not instead of them: a recap at the end of a module, a concept students keep asking about, a welcome video that sets expectations, or a teaser on the sales page. Each runs 45 to 180 seconds, which forces one idea per video.

They don’t replace long recorded lessons, live calls or screen-recorded software walkthroughs. Motiongist draws diagrams and UI mock-ups; it doesn’t record your screen or your face.

Using the videos in a paid course

Paid plans export without a watermark and use final voices with a commercial license, so the videos can go inside a paid course or into ads. On the free plan, videos carry a watermark and the draft voice is meant for testing.

What it costs

One credit balance. A short video is 400 credits, a standard one 700, a long one 1,000, plus 1 credit per 10 narrated characters for the final voice.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can I turn a whole course into videos at once?

Yes, on the Team plan. Drop the course document and Motiongist splits it into 2 to 12 episodes, each a project you review and render. On other plans, make one video per module.

Can I sell the videos as part of my course?

Yes, on paid plans: exports have no watermark and final voices come with a commercial license. Videos are labelled as AI-generated, and we ask you to tell your students.

Does it work with Teachable, Kajabi or Thinkific?

There is no direct integration. Download the MP4 and SRT files and upload them like any other video, or paste a share link into a lesson.

How long can a lesson video be?

Up to 180 seconds, in three lengths: 45–60 s, 90–120 s or 150–180 s. For a longer lesson, split the topic or build a series.

What does a lesson video cost?

A standard video (90–120 s) is 700 credits plus the final voice. Solo is $19 a month for 3,000 credits, and top-ups are 1,000 credits for $10. You see the exact price before every render. See pricing.
