Sometimes all you have is the idea: a question your audience keeps asking, a myth you want to correct, a concept you can explain over coffee but have never scripted. Idea to video starts there. One sentence is enough for Motiongist to write the script, split it into scenes and decide what each scene shows.

The sentence does more work when it says who the video is for and what it should leave them with. “Do we only use 10% of our brain? For teenagers, end with what the science says” gives a sharper script than “brain myth”. Both work, and you read the script before anything is rendered.

How it works

How one sentence becomes a video

  1. Step 1

    Write the idea

A question, a claim, a how-does-it-work. Add who it is for: beginners, developers, ops people or decision-makers. The audience changes the vocabulary and the depth.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a length

45–60 s for one sharp point, 90–120 s for an idea with a few steps, 150–180 s when it needs context. For a first video, shorter is usually better.

  3. Step 3

    Read the script it wrote

The free storyboard step shows the script scene by scene. This is where you correct a fact, add the example you would use, or cut a tangent.

  4. Step 4

    Render and publish

Confirm the exact price and render. You get an e-mail when the video is ready, then download it or publish it.

Example

Do we really use only 10% of our brain?

What you give: “Do we only use 10% of our brain? For teenagers. End with what the science actually says.”

What the video shows, scene by scene

  1. 0–5 s

Hook. A brain icon with a loading bar stuck at 10%. Title: “Only 10%? Not even close.”

  2. 5–17 s

Where the myth comes from. A quote bubble fills with question marks while the narration notes it has no scientific source.

  3. 17–32 s

Brain scans. An outline of the brain lights up region by region as the narration lists talking, walking and remembering.

  4. 32–45 s

The damage test. One small region dims and a matching ability fades: if most of the brain were spare, most injuries would change nothing.

  5. 45–55 s

Takeaway. “You use all of it, just not all at once,” as the closing title.

Why Motiongist

Why start from an idea

  • A script written for speech

Short sentences, one idea per scene, an everyday comparison before any technical term, and a single takeaway at the end.

  • You stay the editor

Nothing is rendered until you have had the chance to read and change the script, and that review costs nothing.

  • An optional presenter

Add an animated character that goes along with the narration, or keep the video 100% motion design.

  • Three looks to start

Light for clean product topics, Night for tech, Illustrated for drawn sets and characters. Describe your own look in a sentence from the Studio plan.

  • Minutes, not days

A render takes from a few minutes to about fifteen, and an e-mail tells you when it is done.

  • Start free

Sign-up gives 500 credits: one short video with the draft voice and a small watermark.

Where the facts come from

With only an idea, the script is written from general knowledge. A fact review runs before rendering, but for anything precise (figures, dates, health or money advice) give Motiongist a source instead: a link or a document. The script then sticks to it.

Either way, read the script in the storyboard step. You are the one publishing.

Short of ideas?

The free Video ideas tool takes your niche or your product and suggests explainer titles, each with a visual angle. Pick one, paste it into the studio, and you have your sentence.

What it costs

One credit balance. A short video is 400 credits, a standard one 700, a long one 1,000, plus 1 credit per 10 narrated characters for the final voice.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How detailed does my idea need to be?

One sentence is enough. Adding the audience and what viewers should remember gives a sharper script, and notes let you say what must appear on screen or what to avoid.

Can I edit the script it writes?

Yes, in the free storyboard step: rewrite lines, reorder them, add or remove scenes, all before you pay for the render.

What if I don’t like the result?

Change the script, the voice or the look and run a revision for 50% of the base price; only what changed is rebuilt. Renders that fail are refunded automatically.

Which ideas work best?

Ideas with a mechanism, a contrast or a sequence: how something works, myth versus fact, why something happens. Topics that need real footage of people or places don’t suit motion design.

Can my AI assistant send ideas to Motiongist?

Yes, from the Studio plan, through the MCP server or the REST API. See the MCP docs.
