InVideo alternative
An InVideo alternative for people who don’t want to edit
InVideo gives you a multitrack timeline you edit by typing instructions. Motiongist skips the timeline: you approve a storyboard, and the finished explainer comes back with voice, captions, music and motion already in place.

InVideo calls itself an agentic video editor. You describe changes in plain language and it applies them across a multitrack timeline, even to every shot at once, and several people can edit together. For teams that like to shape a video by hand, that is real power.
Some people don’t want an editor at all, only the finished video. Motiongist is built for them: the decisions happen in a short brief and a storyboard, and the editing is done for you. InVideo facts here come from its public pages, checked on October 24, 2026.

- 01
You don’t want to edit
InVideo is a plain-language editor on a multitrack timeline. If you would rather approve a storyboard and receive a finished video, Motiongist removes the editing step.
- 02
Per-seat pricing
InVideo prices per seat, with credits. Motiongist’s Solo and Studio plans are one user each, and the Team plan includes 5 seats for $149 a month.
- 03
You want explanations, not montages
Motiongist draws diagrams, numbers and UI mock-ups for your subject and times them to the narration, instead of cutting together shots.
Where InVideo is strong
- Plain-language edits on a full multitrack timeline, including one instruction applied to every shot.
- Multiplayer editing, and free guest seats on Plus and Max (+10 and +20).
- SOC 2 and GDPR claims, and a wall of customer logos.
- A help center and a Discord community.
Stay with InVideo if…
…you want a full timeline editor driven by prompts, with several people editing the same video.

How it works
What changes when you leave the timeline
- Step 1
Write a brief, not an edit list
A one-line idea, a script, a link or a document, plus the audience and a length. Add notes for what must appear on screen or be avoided.
- Step 2
Approve scenes, not tracks
The storyboard lists every scene with its line and its visual. Change the wording, reorder, add or delete scenes, for free.
- Step 3
Confirm the price once
See the exact credit cost before rendering. The video comes back with narration, word-by-word captions, music and sound effects.
- Step 4
Revise what changed
Need a tweak? Edit the script, the voice or the look and run a revision at 50% of the base price; only the changed parts are rebuilt.
Example
Launching shared workspaces in a notes app
What you give: “Announce shared workspaces in our notes app: invite your team, edit together, see who changed what. Upbeat, for current users.”
What the video shows, scene by scene
- 0–5 s
Hook. A single note card splits into three, each with a small avatar dot. Title: “Your notes, now shared.”
- 5–17 s
Invite. A UI mock-up of the share dialog; an e-mail is typed and a teammate’s dot joins the workspace.
- 17–31 s
Edit together. Two cursors write in the same note, each in its own color, without overwriting each other.
- 31–44 s
History. A timeline slides out showing who changed what, and one edit rolls back with a tap.
- 44–53 s
Call to action. “Open Settings → Workspaces”, with the product name and logo on screen.

Why Motiongist
Why a no-edit workflow helps
Minutes, not sessions
Renders take from a few minutes to about fifteen. You get an e-mail when the video is ready.
A consistent look every time
Light, Night or Illustrated presets, your brand look from Solo, or a custom look described in one sentence from Studio.
An optional presenter
Add an animated, illustrated character that goes along with the narration; otherwise it’s pure motion design.
Built for small teams
The Team plan includes 5 seats, renders several videos in parallel and splits long documents into series.
Review links for stakeholders
Send an unlisted share page, with an optional call-to-action button and download, to anyone who needs to sign off.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Is Motiongist cheaper than InVideo?
InVideo’s Starter was listed at €20 a month per seat (€10 a month billed yearly), with 400 credits, when we checked. Motiongist is $19 a month for one user, or $149 for 5 seats. Credits mean different things in each tool, so compare a typical video.
Can I edit the timeline myself?
No. There is no timeline or overlay editor. You change the script, scenes, voice or look, and Motiongist rebuilds the parts that changed.
Can I use my own footage or images?
No. Motiongist doesn’t use uploaded clips, photos or stock footage; every scene is drawn as motion design. Your logo is the one image it uses, through the brand look.
What formats can I export?
Vertical 9:16 MP4 at 1080 × 1920, with SRT captions. Horizontal 16:9 is coming soon.
Can I import my InVideo projects?
No. Paste the script you used, or point Motiongist at the same source link or document.
