Revid alternative

A Revid alternative for explainer videos

Revid is built around viral short-form formats, publishing and automation. Motiongist is built around one thing: explaining an idea clearly, with diagrams and titles animated to a narrated voice.

Revid is a strong tool, and for some workflows it is the right one. But if most of your shorts explain something (a concept, a product, a process, a piece of news), you may want scenes that are drawn for the idea rather than assembled from media, and a clear agreement on the plan and the price before anything renders.

This page sticks to facts from Revid’s public pages, checked on October 24, 2026, and says plainly where Revid is ahead.

Why look elsewhere

Why people look for a Revid alternative

Each reason is tied to a fact from Revid’s public pages, checked on October 24, 2026. Anything we could not confirm is marked unverified.

  1. 01

You explain more than you entertain

Revid positions itself as a viral-first short-form generator. If your videos teach a concept or show how a product works, a tool built around explanatory motion design may fit better.

  2. 02

You want to approve a whole plan first

Revid’s review works scene by scene, with “Regenerate from prompt” per slide and batch media generation. Motiongist puts the whole storyboard in front of you, free, before the first render.

  3. 03

    The entry price

Revid’s pricing page listed plans from $39 to $199 a month, and contradicted itself. Motiongist’s paid plans start at $19 a month.

  • Auto-Mode workers that each produce one video a day (3, 5 or 10 depending on the plan).
  • 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1 output with a safe-zone overlay.
  • 16 named caption presets, plus font, color, size and position controls.
  • Exports up to 4K (beta), at 30 or 60 fps, as MP4 or GIF.

Stay with Revid if…

…you need horizontal or square video today, unattended daily automations, or 4K exports.

How it works

Moving your shorts over from Revid

  1. Step 1

    Bring your scripts or sources

There is no project import, but you don’t need one: paste a script and it is narrated as written, or give the link or document the video should be based on.

  2. Step 2

    Set your look once

Pick Light, Night or Illustrated, or import your site’s name, logo and colors into a brand kit (brand look from the Solo plan).

  3. Step 3

Approve the storyboard and the price

Review the scenes for free, then confirm a quote that shows the exact credits. A failed render is refunded on its own.

  4. Step 4

    Keep posting where you post

Connect YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or LinkedIn and publish now or schedule. Publishing costs no credits.

Example

Why your phone battery dies faster in the cold

What you give: “Why does my phone die in the cold even at 40%? Keep it light, end with a practical tip.”

What the video shows, scene by scene

  1. 0–4 s

Hook. A phone in the snow drops from 40% to 0% in one beat. Title: “Cold kills your battery?”

  2. 4–15 s

Inside the battery. Lithium ions, drawn as dots, shuttle between two layers while the phone is in use.

  3. 15–30 s

The cold. A thermometer drops and the dots slow down; the narration explains the chemistry gets sluggish.

  4. 30–42 s

The false alarm. The voltage gauge dips, the phone reads “empty” and shuts down, then the gauge recovers as it warms up.

  5. 42–52 s

Tip. Keep the phone in an inner pocket; the charge comes back once it warms up.

Why Motiongist

What Motiongist does differently

  • Scenes drawn for the idea

Titles, diagrams, flows, numbers and UI mock-ups animated to the narration, with no stock footage and no avatars.

  • A free storyboard before you pay

Edit, reorder, add or remove scenes before rendering. After a render, a revision rebuilds only what changed, at 50% of the base price.

  • One price, agreed up front

Every render needs a quote you confirm, valid for an hour, and it can’t cost more. If a render fails, its credits come back automatically.

  • 8 voices in 10 languages

Every voice narrates English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish and Indonesian, with captions and on-screen text in the same language.

  • Agents with guardrails

From the Studio plan: REST API, webhooks and an MCP server. An agent can’t start a render without an approved, signed quote.

What it costs

One credit balance. A short video is 400 credits, a standard one 700, a long one 1,000, plus 1 credit per 10 narrated characters for the final voice.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is Motiongist cheaper than Revid?

Motiongist’s paid plans are $19, $49 and $149 a month. When we checked Revid’s pricing page, it listed plans from $39 to $199 a month, but the page was inconsistent, so check it yourself. Credits don’t convert one to one between tools: compare what a typical video costs you in each.

Can Motiongist publish to TikTok and YouTube like Revid?

Yes. Publish now or schedule to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or LinkedIn from the video page, with post copy written for each platform. There is no always-on worker that creates and posts videos unattended, though.

Does Motiongist make 16:9 or square videos?

Not yet. Videos are vertical 9:16; 16:9 is coming soon. If you need horizontal or square video today, Revid supports 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1.

Can my AI agent use Motiongist the way it uses Revid’s MCP?

Yes, from the Studio plan. The MCP server and the REST API cover writing, pricing and rendering, with webhooks when a video is ready. See the MCP docs.

Can I import my Revid projects?

No. Bring the scripts or the source links instead: a pasted script is narrated as written, and a link or a document becomes the source the script sticks to.
