- 0–3 sHook. Two hands crack their knuckles. Bold title: “This gives you arthritis. Right?”
- 3–15 sThe pop. Inside a finger joint, a capsule of fluid. Pulling the joint drops the pressure and a gas bubble forms: that is the sound.
- 15–30 sThe evidence. Two groups of hands, crackers and non-crackers. Studies comparing them have not found a link to arthritis.
On TikTok, an explainer has to earn every second. The first line has to raise a question people want answered, the screen has to keep moving, and the answer has to arrive before attention drops. Doing that by hand means writing, recording, cutting and captioning, for a video that may only live in the feed for a few days.
Motiongist writes the hook first, builds the rest of the script around one idea, and animates each sentence as it is spoken. You choose a voice that suits the feed, read the storyboard, and post the result to TikTok directly or download it.
How it works
From a hook to a posted TikTok
- Step 1
Start with a question people argue about
Myths, surprising facts and “why does this happen” questions make strong openers. Stuck for one? The free video ideas tool suggests eight for your niche.
- Step 2
Pick a voice and keep it short
Will is young and relaxed, at TikTok pace; Alice is bright and upbeat. Most explainers start with the 45–60 s format.
- Step 3
Rewrite the first line if it’s soft
The storyboard is free. Read the opening as if you were scrolling, sharpen it, and make sure the answer lands before the last scene.
- Step 4
Post or schedule
Connect TikTok, keep or edit the caption and hashtags Motiongist drafted, and publish now or later. Or download the MP4 and post it from the app yourself.
Example
Does cracking your knuckles cause arthritis?
What you give: “Myth vs fact: cracking your knuckles gives you arthritis. Fun tone, end with a clear verdict.”
What the video shows, scene by scene
- 0–3 s
Hook. Two hands crack their knuckles. Bold title: “This gives you arthritis. Right?”
- 3–15 s
The pop. Inside a finger joint, a capsule of fluid. Pulling the joint drops the pressure and a gas bubble forms: that is the sound.
- 15–30 s
The evidence. Two groups of hands, crackers and non-crackers. Studies comparing them have not found a link to arthritis.
- 30–42 s
Why you can’t do it twice in a row. A small timer ticks while the gas dissolves back into the fluid.
- 42–52 s
Verdict. A “MYTH” stamp lands on the screen, then one line: if a joint hurts or swells, see a doctor.

Why Motiongist
Why it fits the For You feed
Captions on every word
Large word-by-word captions follow the voice, so the video still makes sense for people scrolling with the sound off.
Clear of the side buttons
Every element sits inside the vertical safe zones, away from the buttons and the caption overlay at the edges of the screen.
Voices with feed energy
Pick from 8 voices, from relaxed to upbeat, in any of 10 languages for audiences beyond English.
Posting without the export dance
Publish to TikTok or schedule a slot from the video page, with a caption and hashtags written for it. No credits charged to publish.
A look people recognise
Stick to one look, like Illustrated or Night, or use your brand colors from the Solo plan, so viewers know your videos at a glance.
Hooks the engine writes, and how to sharpen them
The script opens with the tension of the topic: a myth stated as if true, a number that sounds wrong, a question with an unexpected answer. If the draft opener is too polite, rewrite it in the storyboard or put your own first line in a pasted script, which is narrated as written.
Use the avoid note for anything that would kill trust, like clickbait claims you can’t back up.
What it won’t do
There is no library of trending sounds: every video ships with its own music and sound effects. If you want a trending audio, download the MP4 and post it from the TikTok app. There are no avatars or stock clips either, and videos are labelled as AI-generated, which TikTok also expects you to disclose.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Can Motiongist post directly to TikTok?
Yes. Connect your TikTok account, then publish now or schedule from the video page. The caption and hashtags are drafted for you and fully editable. Publishing costs no credits.
Will TikTok’s buttons cover my captions?
No. Captions, titles and diagrams are placed inside the vertical safe zones, away from the edges where the app draws its interface.
Can I use trending sounds?
Not inside Motiongist. Each video has its own music and sound effects. To use a trending sound, download the MP4 and add it when you post from the TikTok app.
How much does one TikTok cost?
A short video is 400 credits, plus 1 credit per 10 narrated characters with the final voice. Sign-up gives 500 free credits, enough for a first short video with the draft voice and a watermark. Solo is $19 a month for 3,000 credits.
Do I have to disclose that it’s AI-made?
Yes. The voice and visuals are synthetic. Videos are labelled as AI-generated, and you should use the platform’s AI-content label when you post.
