Portuguese AI voiceover for explainer videos

Motiongist narrates explainer videos in Portuguese: choose Portuguese as the video language and the script, the voice, the word-by-word captions and the text inside every scene are in Portuguese. The eight narrators all speak it on paid plans.

How Portuguese narration works in Motiongist

The video is built for Portuguese from the script up. Titles, numbers and diagram labels are written in Portuguese, captions follow the narrator word by word, and the scene timing comes from the Portuguese narration, not from an English cut.

Previews use free draft voices, and for Portuguese they are Brazilian: one male, one female, picked by your narrator’s gender. The final voice on paid plans is your chosen narrator speaking Portuguese, with the same timbre they have in every other language.

There is no switch between Brazilian and European Portuguese for the final voice; the model chooses the accent. If you publish for Portugal, write your script in European Portuguese, generate the narration preview and judge it by ear before rendering.

Todo mês, você pode estar pagando juros sobre juros sem perceber.
In English: Every month, you may be paying interest on interest without noticing.Brazilian phrasing (“estar pagando”). It hooks on a personal cost the viewer may not know about; the next scene shows how compound interest grows.

Writing a script in Portuguese: 5 tips

  • Write for one side of the Atlantic

“Celular” or “telemóvel”, “tela” or “ecrã”, “ônibus” or “autocarro”: viewers notice immediately. The on-screen titles will use your words, so be consistent.

  • Choose você or tu

“Você” is the safe default in Brazil. In Portugal, “tu” is common between peers and “você” can sound distant, so many brands address viewers without a pronoun.

  • Mind the progressive

Brazilian Portuguese says “estou fazendo”, European Portuguese “estou a fazer”. Mixing them in one script sounds odd, even when the voice pronounces both perfectly.

  • Format money and decimals locally

Use a decimal comma and a dot for thousands: R$ 1.250,90 or 3,5 %. Read prices aloud once to check they sound natural as words.

  • Keep accents in the script

Ç, ã, õ, é and ê change pronunciation. A script typed without them can be misread by the voice and will look wrong in the captions.

Questions

Is it Brazilian or European Portuguese?

The draft preview voices are Brazilian. The final voice’s accent is decided by the model, and you can’t pick a variant. Your script’s vocabulary and grammar stay exactly as you wrote them.

Will the captions keep accents and ç?

Captions show the words of your script, so write them with proper accents. You also get them as an SRT file.

Can I hear my Portuguese script before paying for a render?

Yes. In the studio you can preview the narration of your script in the video language before you confirm the render.
